Edward’s Way

To the famous golf course along the paths walked by King Edward VII of England (in Mariánské LáznÄ› 1897 – 1907).

The recommended starting point is Dusíkova Street near Nové LáznÄ›. The route will lead you from the centre of the town to the oldest golf course in Bohemia, which was inaugurated in 1905 by King Edward VII of England himself. On the 5.7 km long walking route with an elevation of more than 200 m you will see the Charles Cross of the founder of the town, Abbot Karl K. Reitenberger, and you will climb past Goethe’s resting place to the Hamelika lookout tower. Behind a game preserve with deer and fallow deer, you are invited to visit the Boheminium Park with models of Czech monuments. The Art Nouveau KrakonoÅ¡ Hotel was a favourite place for Edward’s afternoon walks and later became famous for its monumental statue of KrakonoÅ¡. From the golf course to the Koliba Hotel you can walk down the valley of the Trout Brook with its romantic lakes. The elevation to the KrakonoÅ¡ Hotel can be comfortably overcome by cable car.
