Goethe’s Way
Enter the natural scenery that the poet and scholar Johann Wolfgang Goethe (in Mariánské LáznÄ› 1821 – 1823) visited on his walks with Ulrike von Lewetzov.
The recommended starting point is Goethe Square near the town museum (the house by the Golden Grape), where the poet stayed and filled his time not only with spa treatments but also with collecting and studying local minerals. The local museum houses an exhibition commemorating Goethe’s stays here. The 1.1 km long route passes through the Geological Park, the largest in the country. In the park you will be amazed by the colour and texture of the rocks we normally tread on. The route also includes a symbolic cemetery of the fallen from the First World War. A detour takes us to the Lasek Chapel, from where it is a few steps to the Goethe and Muse sculpture. We will finish the easy walk with a tasting of the fresh mineral water of the Forest Spring.
