Castle Loket

Route via Prameny – Křížky – Nová Ves – Krásno – Horní Slavkov – Loket

Take the road north to Prameny. Turn right at the fork. After 1.5 km you cross the medieval Long Creek. You can stop at the Three Crosses National Natural Monument. Then you continue towards Nová Ves, before it you turn left at the fork and after 4 km you come to a fork where you turn right towards Krásno. Before the town you can see the Krásno lookout tower on your right. From Krásno you continue on to Horní Slavkov. Both towns were historically important tin deposits and centres of tin mining. From Horní Slavkov you continue along the valley of the Ohře River to Loket with its dominant castle.

You can return to Mariánské Lázně by the same route or you can use the D6 motorway from Karlovy Vary towards Cheb, which is tolled.
